Audio Storytelling (written)
Sorry there is no sound on the audio post. Here is the written version of my thoughts on digital storytelling:
I believe that digital storytelling can be an effective tool in the classroom if used with the right activities. I agree with Krystal that digital storytelling makes the information more relatable. I also agree with her idea that it is easier to remember a story if it is told aloud. I think that scrapblog and animoto would be great for the beginning of the year for students to use to introduce themselves. For a lesson, I feel that voicethread would be the best because of the control one has over what people hear. Voicethread gives both visual and audio cues and is not hard to use. I think I could use it as a lesson or have my students teach a lesson with this site. I think all of the sites would add a unique way of teaching a lesson. It would keep the students interest and also expose them to different tools on the internet.

Digital Storytelling
My favorite digital storytelling site was animoto. It was so easy and I loved the outcome of the video. The only problem was that there was a limited amount of control of the video. I could not control how fast the transitions were and so some pictures go by really fast. I had fun picking the pictures and music. I think this would be a good personal site, but not one I would necessarily use in the classroom because of the limited control. Also, it is only a visual aid so one can only learn from the pictures and draw their own conclusions.
Scrapblog was a very unique site that gave me a lot more control. It took me awhile to figure out how to do certain things because there was very little instruction. After I was able to figure out how to accomplish everything, I really enjoyed the site. Again, it is only a visual aid so I am not sure how much people can learn from it. I think scrap blog and animoto may be useful for the beginning of the year when people are introducing themselves. It could be a unique activity that cuts the monotony of the name game that is played in every class. The video being only visual would be ok because people can get a sense of someone's identity from pictures alone.

I liked how these sites easily connected to other sites. It was easy to embed my videos into the blog. I also like how they connected to sites like picnik. I got the picture of the alma mater off this site. It took me awhile to find the part of the site of which to browse for pictures. I enjoyed the idea of the site, but thought it could have been set up in a more accesible way. I liked how we got to try three different websites so we could see different options for digital storytelling.
